Advantages and disadvantages of container houses

10 Jul

Container homes are used commonly in Vietnam and throughout the world. In a certain term, a container house looks like a normal house.

Depending on the type of container, it will decide to aestheticism and efficiency as well as quality. The reason why the container was chosen to build houses is for the strong rise through the veins on the surface of the container. You do not need to build foundations, walls; you only need to have doors and windows. Not only that, when you want to move house, you just rent the car and crane to help you.

For those who prefer the challenge and novelty, they are willing to recycle the containers into beautiful homes, in accordance with the needs of the family. In addition, the cost of this type is only by half compared to the brick home.

If we know how to lay out and arrange well, the type of container will create a beautiful, neat and tidy urban area.

Containers are manufactured from stainless steel, high-strength, not broken to bear the weight of the cargo (25 tons per 20 feet container) and the accumulated weight when stacking five to seven layers of fulfilled containers. The container itself is located on the ground and can be stacked so container houses should promote efficiency in the soft ground. Furthermore, when using the container, it does not require digging the ground, piling nail so it should reduce construction time.

The first concern for “iron house” is hot weather. However, this problem is solved by thermal insulation, sound insulation, waterproof, anti-noise, such as coating, insulation coating, using foam, wall insulation, wood wall … But a drawback to the use of container building is need a broad way to crane the container. Because if we subdivide the container for shipping, it will weaken the structure of the container; costly to reassemble and lost efficiency.

Also, the height of the container is about 2.6m while the height of a normal floor must be more than 3m so the container should be lifted and reinforced high strength.

On the using time, even the concrete also has the using life. The container can be used 50 years. However, a house after about 50 years will be out of fashion, and the landlord will usually want to rebuild to have a better one, consistent with the need to use more. Therefore, investing in a container has both the current economic benefits and the later reconstruction.
